Latisse®

What is Latisse®?

Latisse® is the brand name for the first FDA-approved prescription solution for thinning eyelashes. Within a few months of nightly use, patients typically notice that their eyelashes are longer, fuller, and darker. Full results usually occur within four months.

How does Latisse work?

Bimatoprost ophthalmic solution contains the same ingredient as a glaucoma medication called Lumigan®. In fact, it was glaucoma patients who realized the ingredient benefited their eyelashes. The ingredient seems to extend the growth phase of the eyelash hair cycle, countering the natural decline in hair follicles that stunts eyelash growth.

Who can benefit from Latisse?

Anyone can benefit from Latisse. It can provide more natural and longer-lasting results than makeup or extensions.

How do I use Latisse?

Our providers at the Cizik Eye Center can prescribe Latisse, explain how to use it, and monitor your results. The serum should be applied nightly to the upper lash line with a new sterile applicator. Side effects, including eye irritation and redness, are possible. Some patients experience hyperpigmentation, or skin darkening of the eye lid. A rare side effect is a slight change in eye color. It is particularly important to speak with the provider if you have glaucoma or another eye condition that may cause complications.

Your Cizik Eye Clinic provider will discuss any additional side effects with you and answer any of your questions before the procedure. Your eye health will be our top priority as you try this exciting product designed to improve your appearance and confidence.
